Dr. Michael Jurkowich is a Board Certified Physiatrist with subspecialty training in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine, which he completed at Alabama Orthopedic Spine and Sports Medicine Associates. Prior to this he completed his residency training at the State University of New York, Downstate, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Jurkowich specializes in non-surgical treatment of headaches, neck and back pain through the use of epidural and selective nerve root injections, facet joint injections, sacro-iliac joint injections, and radio- frequency ablation. Dr. Jurkowich also performs vertebral augmentation, spinal cord stimulator trials, and endoscopic discectomies for a variety of debilitating conditions. Through his extensive training in residency, Dr. Jurkowich is also certified to perform electrodiagnostic testing such as EMG/NCV which can prove vital in diagnosis and targeted treatment. Additionally, Dr. Jurkowich employs the technology of ultrasound to perform MSK examinations as well as peripheral joint and soft tissue injections for the treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal pain secondary to acute injuries as well as chronic conditions such as arthritis. Dr. Jurkowich is an active member of The International Pain Spine Intervention Society as well as The American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Through his participation in these educational societies, Dr. Jurkowich can offer his patients the most up to date, and effective evidence-based treatments available.
