These doctors work with patients to develop a plan to manage their pain using a variety of approaches, including medications, physical therapy, and interventional procedures. Pain management doctors may also work with other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, to coordinate care for their patients.

They may also perform procedures such as nerve blocks or spinal injections to help manage pain. The goal of a pain management doctor is to help patients improve their quality of life and function by reducing their pain and suffering.
