Kyphoplasty Vertebroplasty Treatment
Kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty are medical procedures that are used to treat fractures or compressions of the vertebrae (the bones in the spine). Call us today to make an appointment we serve patients across New York and New Jersey, including communities such as Plainview, Ronkonkoma, New Hyde Park, Montville, and Plainfield.

Both procedures involve injecting a special cement-like material into the vertebrae to stabilize the bones and reduce pain. Kyphoplasty is usually performed on patients who have fractured vertebrae due to osteoporosis or other degenerative conditions. During the procedure, a balloon is inserted into the fractured vertebra and inflated to create a cavity. The cavity is then filled with cement-like material, which hardens and stabilizes the vertebra. Vertebroplasty is similar to kyphoplasty, but it does not involve the use of a balloon. Instead, the cement-like material is injected directly into the fractured vertebra. Both procedures are typically performed on an outpatient basis, meaning that the patient can go home the same day as the procedure. They are typically done under local anesthesia but may also be done under general anesthesia if necessary. After the procedure, patients may experience some pain and discomfort, but this can usually be managed with over-the-counter or prescription pain medications. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities within a few days of the procedure.
